Construction signage for Calgary builders
01 / In short
A construction site is read from a car. Somebody drives past at fifty, sees a fence, and decides in a second whether there is anything here worth stopping for. That is the job the signage has to do, and it has to keep doing it in February when the panel is grey with road salt.
We draw the artwork for Calgary sites: the hoarding, the lot map at the entrance, the showhome and direction signs. It goes to your printer at the size they asked for, in the format they can print, so nobody has to redraw it and nobody has to guess.
Construction signage covers the hoarding around a site, the lot map at the entrance, the showhome and direction signs, and the safety and contact boards. In Calgary a builder usually needs artwork supplied print ready at the size the sign shop specified, in a format they can print without redrawing it.
02 / What we do
What we draw for a site
Most builders come to us with a fence, a sign shop quote and a date. These are the pieces that usually make up the order.
- 01Hoarding and fence panels, drawn at the real panel size so the artwork lines up on site
- 02The lot map at the entrance, with the phases, the lot numbers and the builders coloured in
- 03Showhome, direction and parking signs, so a visitor can find the front door
- 04Safety, contact and coming soon boards
- 05Trade show and event banners, when the same project needs a booth
03 / What we do
Made for the printer, not for a screen
A sign that has to be redrawn costs a day. We send files the sign shop can print as they arrive.
- 01The exact panel dimensions your sign shop specified, including bleed
- 02Vector artwork, so a four foot panel and a forty foot hoarding come off the same file
- 03Colours set for print, checked against your brand rather than guessed from a screenshot
- 04Text sized to be read from the distance the sign will actually be seen from
04 / What we do
Lot maps, which are their own job
A lot map is the sign people stand in front of and photograph. It has to be right, and it has to stay right when a phase sells and a builder changes.
- 01Every lot numbered and coloured to its builder, from the plan your engineer supplied
- 02Phases and frontages shown the way your sales team talks about them
- 03Redrawn when a phase releases, without starting again
- 04The same artwork used for the entrance sign, the brochure and the sales sheet
05 / What we do
How long it takes
Most signage orders sit between three days and two weeks, depending on how much of the source material exists. A lot map from a clean engineering plan is faster than a lot map from a photograph of a printed one. We will tell you which you have before you commit to a date.

Questions
What people ask us
Can you work from the plan our engineer sent?
Yes, and that is the best starting point. A PDF from the civil drawing gives us the lot lines, numbers and phases directly. If all you have is a printed copy or a photo, we can still work from it, it just takes longer and we will say so up front.
Do you print the signs as well?
No, we draw the artwork and send it to your sign shop. Most builders already have a printer they use, and it is cheaper for you to keep that relationship. We will talk to them about sizes and formats so you do not have to relay it.
What do you need from us to start?
The plan or the site layout, your logo and brand colours, the sizes your sign shop quoted, and the date the signs have to be up. If the brand colours are not written down anywhere we can pull them off your existing material.
Can you update a sign we already have?
If we can get the original artwork, yes. If it was drawn by somebody else and the file is gone, we would be redrawing it, and it is usually worth redrawing it properly at that point so the next change is easy.
Do you work outside Calgary?
Yes. The work is drawn and sent, so the site can be anywhere. Most of it is Calgary and the surrounding area because that is where our builders are.
